The Emotionally Grateful Soul
Today, I cried on the plane while listening to a sweet song that brought some memories to the surface of my mind (it's ok though, I had the whole row to myself!).
I do this sometimes, but I'm not an emotional mess.
I'm an emotionally grateful soul.
That's what it is.
In his ESPY speech just over a month before his death, Jimmy V said, "To me, there are three things everyone should do every day. Number one is laugh. Number two is think -- spend some time in thought. Number three,
you should have your emotions move you to tears. If you laugh, think and cry, that's a heck of a day.”
Many of us do number one.
Sadly, not all of us do number two, but a fair amount do.
Number three? Cry, that is, be an emotionally grateful soul? Rarely do any of us do number this. Perhaps it's "embarrassing."
Well, I think embarrassment will fade away in the face of death. It doesn't matter in the end. Just cry.
